Between December 15th, 2017 and April 15th 2018 the historic »tx-transformator« was shown as part of the exhibition “Aesthetics of change – 150 years of the University of Applied Arts Vienna” at the MAK (Museum für Angewandte Kunst). We put a lot of effort into getting the old installation up and running again. The rewarding result of these efforts was that visitors were able to transform themselves again, having as much fun as they did twenty years ago.

Martin Moser, who had already built the electronics of the »tx-transformator« in 1999, helped to replace the PC, which had become obsolete in the meantime, and to implement the system on a modern computer. Surprisingly, both the original interface and the underlying DOS program still worked fine. Also the interface design by Michael Haderer, which was intended at the time as a reminiscence of the aesthetics of the 1981 Kraftwerk album "Computerwelt", has also lost none of its charm.
